Hybrid Theory is the debut album by the American nu metal band Linkin Park. Released on October 24, 2000 through Warner Bros. Records, the album was a commercial success, peaking at #2 in the U.S. Billboard 200 and reaching high positions in charts worldwide, despite receiving mixed reviews from publications. Recorded at NRG Recordings in North Hollywood, California, and produced by Don Gilmore, the album's lyrical themes deal with problems lead vocalist Chester Bennington experienced during his adolescence, including drug abuse and the constant fighting and divorce of his parents. Four singles were released from the album: "Papercut", "In The End", 'One Step Closer", and the Grammy Award-winning "Crawling", the latter three of which were responsible for launching Linkin Park into mainstream popularity. Since its release, Hybrid Theory has been certified diamond by the RIAA, and to date has sold 24 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling debut album of the 21st century. At the 2002 Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Best Rock Album.

Meteora is the second studio album by California-based nu metal band Linkin Park, first released on March 25, 2003. Following the collaboration album Reanimation which featured remixes of their debut album Hybrid Theory. Linkin Park released singles from Meteora for over a year, including "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Breaking The Habit" and "Numb". Meteora is also Linkin Park's shortest studio album. The music in Meteora represents significant changes since the release of Hybrid Theory. It is characterized by more relevant influences from rapcore ("Lying from You", "Hit the Floor", "Figure.09"), hip hop ("Nobody's Listening") and electronica ("Breaking the Habit"). Their instrumental song "Session" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 2003. It is the most successful album in the history of the Modern Rock Tracks chart, a chart that specializes in radio play of alternative rock songs. "Numb" was the biggest song of the year on the chart. The album has sold 5.5 million copies in the U.S. and over 11 million worldwide to date.

Minutes to Midnight is Linkin Park's third studio album that was released, depending on location, between May 9, 2007 and May 18, 2007. It has sold remarkably well in the space of a few months and has been certified 2× Platinum in the United States. It is also their first studio album with a parental advisory label, besides Collision Course (the album featuring Jay-Z) which was a remix album. The album debuted at #1 in the United States and in 15 other countries, including the UK and Canada, around the world. In the U.S. the album had the biggest first week sales of 2007 with 625,000 albums sold. The album was certified Platinum (One million albums sold) in the U.S. and shipped over 3.3 million albums worldwide in its first four weeks of release. This album was #25 on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 50 Albums of 2007. There are two versions of the album cover. Both feature all six members of the band in black clothing. On the slipcase, the band members are looking away from the camera and on some of the standard jewel case covers, most of the band members are looking at the camera. The order of the band (from left to right) is as follows: Chester Bennington, Phoenix, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, and Mike Shinoda. The lead single from the album, "What I've Done", was digitally released on April 2 in the U.S. and April 3 in the UK. The CD single was released on April 30.
